Special VIP Guest Speaker: Zac Snelling

Zac began his career as a Ray White Property Manager in 2007 and was awarded the 2008 Property Manager of the Year Award, the No.3 Rookie of the Year award (generally a sales only award) and also achieved Premier status in both 2008 & 2009 (settled commission income over $250,000). He then took the role of senior property manager and team leader at another Ray White office in 2010, where he helped more than double the company's rent roll leading to the office significantly growing its reputation and market share and being awarded the No.3 Property Management office nationally in 2012. It was at this time that Zac left Ray White to start his own independent Property Management business with a focus on working with and assisting the Auckland private landlord market where he developed long lasting relationships with many large scale private investors. After finding success and continued learning through his own company, Zac was approached by the Ray White NZ CEO and offered the role of National Business Development Executive for Property Management, which he has held since June 2013. The role sees Zac manage a franchise network of over 100 office and more than 300 Property Managers where he has a responsibility for the growth and strategic planning of all businesses throughout the network as well as the professional growth of all staff via his learning and development programmes. The association is fortunate to have Zac present to us. Spread the word, this is our last monthly meeting for 2014. Doors open from 7pm, special supper included. Visitors most welcome - $20 door charge For more information contact the Association's President: Pauline Beissel on 0274719192

Post Election Property Politics

Property investors will be relieved that a capital gains tax and the proposal to ring fence tax losses are off the table for at least three years. But there are still some political activities that could affect the rental property industry. The Warrant of Fitness issue has still not been resolved, neither has the earthquake strengthening debate. The NZPIF has presented our case in both these areas.

The NZ Herald recently had an article on "Giving up the day job" with a financial expert sharing some tips. It was a classic example of not taking property advice from a financial advisor. Election result good for tenants and landlords

I'm writing this the day after the election, grateful to the publishers for an extension in providing this article. During the week leading up to the election I was wondering if NZ First was going to be the King Maker and if we would even have a Government by the time you read this. Thankfully the result was clear cut and Labour announced quickly that they couldn't form a Government.
