The MANAWATU PROPERTY INVESTORS ASSOCIATION (M.P.I.A.)
It is becoming increasingly obvious that a new 'breed' of property investor is emerging. They are generally younger, they have higher than average disposable income, they are ravenous for information and education about property investment. They are people who have become disillusioned with other forms of investment i.e. stock markets, bonds, unit trusts, bank deposits etc.
Just as the change in the type of property investors occured, so as the change in the needs of the tenant. The days of 'old dungers' are quickly fading, as tenants are requiring (and demanding) a better quality type of accomodation. In the Manawatu we are seeing an influx of foreign fee paying students and these, with what can be described as 'serious' New Zealand students, see their time at tertiary institutions as a time for serious study and not a time to prove the adequacy (or inadequacy) of their beer drinking ability.
Our monthly meetings are very well attended, packing in up to 120 people, with a wide variety of speakers and workshops covering all areas of property investment and management.
Property Investment should be and can be fun, provided you run it as a business and don't let it run you.
